World number one Nelly Korda has captured her first LPGA Player of the Year title, the LPGA confirmed Monday after it became mathematically impossible for anyone to catch her for the points-based prize.

In an already historic 2024 campaign, American Korda has six wins and three additional top-10 finishes.

Her victories included a record run of five in a row capped by her second major title at the Chevron Championship, and she represented the United States at the Paris Olympics and the Solheim Cup.

Korda skipped two tournaments during the recent Asian swing after a neck injury limited his ability to train.

Japan’s Ayaka Furue, winner of the Evian Championship in July, should have won the rest of this year’s LPGA events to make up ground, but she tied for 10th at the Japan Classic on Sunday.

“Winning the Rolex Player of the Year award means a lot to me,” Korda said in a statement. “This season has had its ups and challenges, and I am truly grateful to the people around me who helped me get to this point.”

Korda is scheduled to compete in two more tournaments this year, including the season-ending Tour Championship in Naples, Fla., Nov. 21-24.
